Representative duties include locking doors, windows, and gates of entrances and exits to secure the building. Patrol premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion. Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to provide safety and guard against theft and maintain security of premises. Answer alarms, investigate, resolve, and document disturbances. Respond to medical emergencies by administering basic first aid. Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences. Answer telephone calls, questions, and provide information while performing security work. Patrol and circulate among visitors, patrons, or employees to preserve order and protect property, warn persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from the premises. Assisting with the movement of deliveries and other materials throughout the MHC. Limited hazard abatement to address immediate safety concerns. Knowledge of proper use of emergency, communications, and security equipment. Familiarity with CPR/AED/First Aid (certifications will be provided by MTHS). Skills include good communication skills (verbal and written), organization of tasks and documentation, basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office products Word and Excel. Ability to act calmly and authoritatively in emergency situations, interact well with museum guests, observe and report irregularities, take appropriate action in emergency situations, disseminate information in a courteous manner, lift up to 50 pounds, and write routine reports and correspondence. Education: High-school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Two years of experience in a security-related field, including experience performing patrols, access control, and incident response, or other combinations of education and experience may be substituted. Minimum physical/mental requirements include climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, patrolling uneven terrain, working in all types of weather, working during irregular hours or at night, regular contact with other employees and the public, dealing with emergencies or protecting against criminals, remaining alert and responsive throughout their shift, and able to stand for long periods of time.
Conditions of employment include working a standard 40-hour schedule, which may include Saturday, Sunday, and holidays. Must have and maintain a current, valid driver's license. The Montana Heritage Center operates seven days a week and is open all holidays except Thanksgiving and Christmas.
